"The Grinning Man" was a collaboration between The Imaginarium Studios and Bristol Old Vic theater company on Magic Leap. It was an immersive AR experience that brought the characters and dark atmosphere of the stage play to life in the user's physical space, blending performance capture with mixed reality.
Experience
In 2018 The Imaginarium Studios motion captured an entire West End musical performance to create a Mixed Reality experience that used digital versions of the actors on the Magic Leap headset. We worked closely with Andy Serkis and the play’s director, Tom Morris, to oversee the creative direction, user experience and technical implementation for the project.
Impact
The experience was showcased at The Future of StoryTelling, FoST, Summit, L.E.A.P Conference in 2018 and at SXSW in 2019.
