BBC Earth - Micro Kingdoms: Senses

BBC Earth - Micro Kingdoms: Senses

Collaboration between Preloaded and BBC Earth – "Micro Kingdoms: Senses" uses the Magic Leap spatial computing platform to merge users’ worlds with those of a Leaf Cutter Ant colony in the tropical rainforests of Central America and a Wandering Spider in the Atlantic Forest of Eastern Brazil. Narrated by Stephen Fry, the experience brings the natural world into your world, inviting creatures to walk over your table, or around your sofa, or even up your walls.

Experience

Users could nurture creatures, influence their environment, and observe their evolving ecosystem in a captivating blend of simulation and augmented reality. Users saw a tiny, animated world bloom on their table, populated by evolving creatures. They could interact by placing objects, influencing the ecosystem, and observing the emergent behaviors of their miniature kingdom. The project was part of Magic Leap’s Independent Creator Program and we consulted with the Preloaded team on user interaction, creative and technical design to match the possibilities of the Magic Leap platform, as the technology continued to develop throughout the project.
